Slow cold starts, rough idle, and misfires under load often begin in the ignition – a cracked distributor cap, worn contact points, or a tired ignition coil. On the 240/260, the engine code, automatic/manual, and model year determine which distributor fits, since the B21, B23, and later B230 (all four-cylinder OHC) differ from the V6 B27/B28 engines. Everything is a 12-volt system.
