A rising temperature gauge in summer traffic, white deposits around the water pump gasket, or a brittle expansion tank that starts to sweat – the cooling system on the 240/260 wears with the years and the parts differ greatly between the engines. A B21/B23 has a different radiator and pump geometry than the V6 B27/B28, and the diesels D20/D24 have their own hose routing. From 1988 the 240 also got an electric fan instead of the belt-driven viscous coupling, which determines which fan solution fits.
