A droning intermediate pipe, an exhaust muffler that has rusted through, or uneven fuel delivery are classic reasons to start digging into the 850's fuel and exhaust line. The transverse 5-cylinder DOHC motor is fed via the fuel pump, filter and hoses, and the exhaust is routed rearward through the manifold, intermediate pipe and muffler – all exposed to heat, vibration and road salt.
