A cracked distributor cap, burnt contact pins and a worn rotor arm show up as rough idle, misfires and hard cold starting on the fuel-injected fours B19E, B21E and B23E. These are classic checkpoints when the ignition acts up, and most of the faults sit right in the distributor.

This category gathers the parts that keep the spark in place in the 240's ignition system. The group includes the distributor cap and rotor arm, plus retainers, anchorages, hose, fasteners and small hardware such as cross recessed screws and ordinary screws for mounting the distributor and ignition components.
When overhauling the ignition it is worth checking the cap's carbon points and burn marks, the rotor arm's contact surface, and that anchorages and fasteners sit correctly so nothing works loose and disturbs the timing. Worn small parts in the distributor often cause bigger symptoms than you would expect.
