A rough idle, odd noises under acceleration or a difficult cold start can point to worn ignition components, and the distributor is then an obvious place to check. On the B21F, carbon tracking, corroded contacts in the cap and a worn rotor arm often lead to a weak or jumping spark. This group includes the distributor cap, rotor arm, safety ring and screw, plus grease – in other words the recurring wear parts that handle and distribute the ignition voltage to each cylinder.

Since these parts are tied specifically to the B21F, you should compare the design and mounting against your existing distributor before replacement. During service it is common to check the cap and arm for tracking and corrosion, replace a worn safety ring and apply a little grease to the shaft so the rotation runs cleanly.
