Volvo 140/164 Cooling system
A leaking water pump, a clogged radiator and a fan that no longer pulls air through the core are classic causes of rising temperatures on the 140 and 164. Which parts fit is determined by engine and model year: the B18 in the early 140 cars, the B20 that took over from 1968, and the inline-six B30 in the 164 place different demands on radiator, pump and fan blades. When overhauling the cooling system, the water pump, radiator, radiator fan and associated water/fan parts are typical checkpoints when chasing overheating or frost damage.
