The transition from B18 to B20 and the change from 6 to 12 volts during 1963 determine much of which parts fit an 1800. Just as important are the brakes: single-circuit brake in the early years, dual circuits from chassis #28300 (1969) and four-wheel disc brakes on the 1800E from chassis #30001 (1970). The stronger M30 rear axle arrived from 1966. That is why model year and chassis number are always the first step in troubleshooting and restoration on the P1800, 1800S, 1800E and 1800ES.
