A leaking master cylinder on the early B16 cars is serious: the system is single-circuit and acts on four drums, so the slightest hydraulic leak means all braking action disappears. A sinking pedal, fluid in the bottom of the gaiter, or poor return movement are classic signs that the seals have given up.

This category gathers parts for the B16 cars' master brake cylinder between 1957 and 1961. The group includes complete master cylinders, repair kits with seals and sleeves, caps and screws, washers, plus a brake lamp contact and plastilube/grease for installation. During a rebuild it is common to choose between replacing the whole cylinder or freshening up the bore and fitting a repair kit.
Bear in mind that these early cars have 6-volt systems and single-circuit brakes – the B18 and 12 volt only arrived in August 1961. Always check the model year and version before ordering parts, since later dual-circuit systems are not the same thing.
