A leaking master brake cylinder or brittle, rusty brake lines show up immediately as a spongy pedal and a dropping fluid level – and on the early single-circuit systems a single hydraulic leak means total brake loss. Here the year and engine determine the design: early B16 cars have single-circuit, while the dual-circuit system arrived in 1968–1970. For the US market, Wagner Brake developed its own dual-circuit master cylinder, so the same year can differ.
