A worn rubber pad that starts to slip, a sluggish return action or play in the pedal linkage are classic checkpoints when the brake pedal on a 122 with the B18 is gone over. This category gathers the small parts and wear items around the pedal assembly itself on cars with dual-circuit brakes in US spec, where the two-circuit system arrived at the end of the 1960s while the export cars to the USA stayed with single-circuit before the changeover.

The group includes the rubber pad, return spring and clevis pin together with nuts, screw, washers as well as grease and plastilube for lubricating the bearing points. Together the families cover what is needed when the pedal is refitted with the right friction and without play.
A typical checkpoint during restoration is to clean and lubricate the pedal bushing with plastilube – dry bearing gives a sluggish pedal return and uneven feel, which is easily mistaken for a fault in the master cylinder.
