Lubricating system Volvo B30
Falling oil pressure at warm idle or a shiny oil patch under the car are classic signs that the lubricating system in the B30 needs attention. The straight-six is considered very reliable and rarely causes trouble, but worn oil pump gears, hardened seal rings and porous hoses cause the pressure to drop and oil to find its way out at the gasket surfaces.

This group includes parts that keep circulation tight and stable: oil pumps, oil filters, gaskets, O-rings and seal rings as well as hoses, plugs and screws for installation. During a rebuild it is worth replacing the seal ring and O-rings at the same time the oil pump is checked – old rubber shrinks and starts to leak oil even if the pump itself is healthy. A new plug and the right gasket at the oil pan also keep the joints dry after reassembly.
