The group includes gear shift lever knobs and gear lever boots, gearbox mounting, o-rings, and smaller fasteners such as screw, nut and spring washer. There are also gears that belong to the inner workings of the box. The 445 and the later 544 models ran with the B18A and the M40 box right up to 1969, and worn rubber mounts are a typical checkpoint – a tired mount causes vibration and vague shifting.

A simple measure during a full overhaul is to replace the gaiter and o-ring at the same time, since dry rubber is often the cause of both dirt in the mechanism and a sweating oil leak around the lever.
