Tired return springs and worn thrust pins are a classic find when the rear brake on a 445 is taken apart – springs that have lost their tension don't pull the shoes back properly and cause dragging brakes or an uneven wear surface. This category gathers the small parts that hold the rear brake's brake shoes in place and moving correctly on the 445 and 210 from chassis 27154 (and 210 up to ch 45321).

The group includes return springs and springs, mounting kits, thrust pins, guide washers, rubber caps, castle nuts and grease. When rebuilding a drum brake it pays to replace the whole set of springs and small parts at the same time as the shoes and wheel cylinders, since old springs and rusty pins rarely survive a new disassembly. The brake system on the 544/445 is hydraulic with four drums, so having the spring force set correctly is crucial for even braking at the rear.
