When rebuilding a drum brake it pays to replace the whole set of springs and small parts at the same time as the shoes and wheel cylinders, since old springs and rusty pins rarely survive a new disassembly. The brake system on the 544/445 is hydraulic with four drums, so having the spring force set correctly is crucial for even braking at the rear.
