Cracks in the exhaust manifold after years of heat cycles, a leaking intake gasket that causes rough idle, or a clogged crankcase ventilation forcing oil past the seals – these are the typical reasons to dig into this part of the engine. On the 740/760/780 the engine code controls everything: the straight four-cylinder B200/B230 (naturally aspirated and turbo), the V6 B28/B280 and the D24T diesel have completely different inlet pipes and manifolds that are not interchangeable with one another.
