A smell of gas in the trunk and damp joints around the filler neck usually come from dry grommets, a cracked fuel hose or a vent hose that has hardened over the years. On injected B20E/F engines the Evaporite control also works as a closed system, so even small leaks on the venting side show up as odor and poor return of vapors.

This category gathers the sealing and connection parts for the fuel tank on the Volvo 145 from 1973. The group includes grommets and fuel hose, vent hose, gaskets plus screw, nut, washer and clamp that keep the joints tight.
During a refurbishment the grommets between tank and hose are a typical checkpoint – dry rubber cracks and draws in false air. Replace the hose and clamp at the same time so the whole path from tank to engine stays tight.
