For sealing there are gaskets, and at joints and mountings you'll find recurring nuts, lock nuts and washers that are often seized and need replacing as part of the job.
A typical check point during installation is to make sure all rubber mounts and brackets are intact – any play loads both the joints and pipes and quickly causes new cracks. Also check that the gaskets and lock nuts at the manifold flange are fresh, so the joint stays tight after the overhaul.
