Exhaust system Volvo 240 (B21F(J)
Rusted-through mufflers and porous pipe joints are among the most common reasons the entire exhaust line needs to be inspected on a 240 with the fuel-injected B21F motor. Heat, road salt and condensation wear hardest at joints and weld seams, and a leak just after the manifold is often noticeable as a droning noise and an altered sound.

This category gathers parts that cover the whole way from flange to rear silencer. The group includes exhaust pipe and muffler as load-bearing parts, while the clamp holds the joints in place. The gasket seals against the manifold and joints, and screw, hexagon screw and washer are used for mounting and connection.
When restoring, it is worth checking the rubber of the hangers at the same time – worn mounts let the pipe knock against the base plate and wear out new parts prematurely. Also check that the flange gasket is replaced during removal so the joint is tight.
