A leaking cylinder head gasket, oily valve cover screws and freeze plugs that start to weep in the coolant passages are classic reasons to open up the cylinder head on a fuel-injected B20E/F. On the 1800E (B20E with Bosch D-Jetronic) and the lower-compression B20F for emissions markets, a tight cylinder head is essential for even compression and the correct coolant temperature.

This group includes gaskets, screws and studs for the cylinder head and manifold, the valve cover – also in a chrome version – plus a complete valve cover kit with seals. You will also find freeze plugs and expander plugs for the cylinder head and block. During a rebuild, the condition of the head bolts/studs is a typical checkpoint: corroded or stretched screws will not hold the correct torque and produce an uneven gasket clamping pattern.
