A sluggish cold start, rough idle and misfires can just as often stem from a worn distributor as from old spark plugs. On the 140 with the twin-carburetor B20B engine, much of the ignition quality lives in the distributor – shaft play, burnt contacts and a dry centrifugal advance shift the spark out of position and cause jerky running.
