Hard cold starts, rough idle and erratic ignition on a B20A often come from a worn breaker mechanism, play in the distributor shaft or a tired rotor arm – common checkpoints when the ignition needs freshening up. The B20A is the 1.8/2.0-litre motor with a single Stromberg CD 175 carburetor, and the distributor controls the firing order and advance for it.

This group includes the distributor, rotor arm and lock washer together with spark plug, seal, O-ring and grease plus decal – part families that belong to a complete ignition overhaul. When rebuilding, it is smart to also replace the O-ring and seal against oil leakage at the distributor base and to lubricate the shaft with the right grease, so the advance moves freely and the spark stays stable across the rev range.
