Cracking insulation, green oxidized joints and play in the bulb sockets are among the most common headaches when the original wiring on a 544 with B16 engine starts to show its age. On these cars (1958–1961) there is a 6-volt system, where every poor contact resistance is felt directly in weaker lights and sluggish starting – the switch to 12 volts only came with the B18 in 1961.

The group includes cable in running lengths, cable terminal and cable terminal, sleeve, grommet and clamp, as well as reflector – the parts needed when a tired wiring harness has to be cut, spliced and rerouted. Grommets protect against chafing where the wiring passes through sheet metal, and a correctly sized cable terminal keeps the voltage drop down in the sensitive 6-volt system. A natural checkpoint during a restoration is the condition of the bulb sockets and base, since oxidized contacts are often the cause of flickering lighting.
