A horn that goes silent or sounds weak is rarely caused by the horn itself – more often it's corroded contacts, a poorly grounded anchorage or the wrong supply voltage. Since the early cars run 6-volt and the later ones 12-volt, both the horn and the related parts differ between the motor generations, so the choice is governed by which motor the car has.
