A silent or raspy horn on a B16 122 can come down to equal parts a tired horn and corroded contacts. The B16 cars in particular run the original 6-volt system (12 volts arrived first in August 1961 with the B18), so voltage is an important checkpoint – a 12-volt horn will not work correctly here. Since the routed horn cables and contact points tend to oxidize, it is worth measuring the voltage all the way to the horn before condemning the horn itself.
