Engine block Volvo B230
Leaking or rusty freeze plugs are one of the most common reasons to dig into the block on a B230 – the 4-cylinder inline motor of 2,316 cc fitted to the 940/960, with or without turbo. When coolant seeps out behind the manifold or along the sides of the block, it is often the plug and gasket that need replacing, not the whole motor.

This group includes freeze plugs and plugs for sealing the coolant passages, cover washers, plus gaskets and soot cleaning kits used during disassembly and reassembly. There are also screws, hexagon screws and completion kits for the mounting points and fastenings on the block. When rebuilding the red block, it is worth taking the opportunity to check and renew all the freeze plugs while the motor is open anyway – they corrode from the inside and a late leak forces you to do the work twice.
