Pitted chrome, faded anodized surfaces and drip channels that come loose at the door edges are classic age marks on the 1800 body – and often the first thing you notice when the car is to be freshened up. The moldings also sit where moisture likes to collect, so rust under a loosening side molding is a common checkpoint during restoration.
