Weak idle after warming up, the smell of gas in the engine bay, or a pump that can no longer keep the float chamber filled – then it's time to look at the supply to the B30A. On the early, carbureted 164s there is a mechanical fuel pump driven by the camshaft, and it's often the diaphragm or the pump's gasket surfaces that give out first.

The group includes fuel pumps together with the surrounding parts needed for the job: gaskets, fuel hose, hose clamps, nuts, brace, spacer washer and T-junction. During a rebuild, the pump's gasket and the hose connections are typical check points – cracks in the rubber hose and loose clamps let in air and lose pressure. The spacer washer sets the position of the pump arm against the camshaft, so it belongs with the job if the installation is to be done right.
The parts are gathered for the straight-six B30A in the 164, which was known for its reliability when the fuel supply was kept in trim.
