Throttle control linkage Volvo PV/Duett (B18B/D)

A stiff accelerator pedal, play before the motor responds, and a shutter that won't fully return are classic signs of worn linkage parts in the throttle control. On the 1778cc B18 fitted to the 544 and 210/445 from 1961/62, the motion travels through a chain of joints, and over time the ball joints wear out so the rod knocks and the pedal feels spongy.

Categories

This category gathers the wear parts in the linkage. The group includes control rods and levers that transfer the pedal motion, ball joints that take up the movement in the joints, plus anchorages, retaining clips and toothed washers that lock everything in place. Screws and washers in the correct dimensions belong here too.

A common checkpoint during a rebuild is the ball joints and retaining clips: replace the worn ones with new parts and the play disappears, and with clean, lubricated joints the shutter returns smoothly toward the idle position again.
