Throttle control linkage Volvo B16 (Early 445)

Play in the accelerator pedal, sluggish response or a throttle wire that snags can often be traced to worn ball joint shells and stretched linkage parts in the carburetor control. On the early 445 with the B16A motor, the throttle control works mechanically against the Zenith or twin SU carburetor, and every bit of play in the joints means poorer metering at idle and part throttle.

The group includes ball joint shells, washers, nuts and a screw for the linkage mountings, a grommet kit where the control passes through the cowl wall, a coupling brace and cotter pins that lock the joints, plus the accelerator pedal. During a rebuild, worn ball joint shells and missing cotter pins are typical points to check – replace the whole chain and you regain precise, play-free throttle action. Always verify the version against the car, as early 445s differ in details.
