The grommets protect cable and hole pass-throughs in the sheet metal against chafing, while the right combination of screw, nut and spring washer ensures the mounting holds without pulling crooked. During assembly it is common to renew the whole set of fasteners at once – old nuts often break during removal, and new mounting brackets give a stable, straight fit against the body.
