Fuel pump with glass cover for Volvo B18 1961-64

A gas smell in the engine bay, an engine that stalls in the heat or sluggish starting after a break – that's often the sign it's time to look at the mechanical fuel pump. On the B18 the pump sits on the block and is driven by an eccentric on the camshaft, and over the years the diaphragm dries out and the gaskets harden so the fuel delivery becomes uneven.

This group includes complete fuel pumps as well as repair kits with diaphragm and valves for those who would rather rebuild the existing pump. There are also gaskets and spacer washers against the block, grommet and fuel hose up to the carburetor, plus lock and spring washers for the mounting.
A common check during a rebuild is the gasket and spacer washer – the wrong thickness changes how far the eccentric reaches and affects the pump's stroke. Also make sure the hose is ethanol-resistant before it ages and falls apart.
