A sluggish cold start, rough idle or misfiring under load are classic signs of tired ignition parts in a B16. Because the B16 engine (1,583 cc) sits in the 122 with the early 6-volt system – before the switch to 12 volts in August 1961 – the ignition coil must be rated for the correct voltage, otherwise the spark stays weak and the fuel won't burn cleanly.

During an ignition overhaul it is worth replacing the coil, plugs and cables together – cracks in the insulation on old ignition cables cause flashover and hard-to-trace misfires in damp weather. Also check the electrode gap and contact surfaces while you are already in the system.
