Worn brushes and dry bearings are the most common reasons the charging becomes uneven or disappears on a 122 with B18. Once the generator is removed it pays off to refresh the entire unit instead of just replacing a single part – this is where a restorer picks up the wear parts.

The group includes a brush set to restore the contact against the commutator, a mounting kit plus anchorages, screw, nut and spring washer for mounting and tensioning the belt. There is also a flywheel bearing and a decal for the correct finish in a complete restoration.
Keep in mind that the B18 and the 12-volt system were introduced together in August 1961 – the parts here are intended for the 12V-built generator, not the earlier 6V version. Always check the condition of the commutator and the bearing play when the brushes are replaced anyway.
