Porous Radiator Hoses, rusty clamps and a Kuhlmittelrohr that drips at the lower pipe are classic problems on a 122 that has been running for a few decades. When the B18 and the 12-volt system arrived in August 1961, the older B16 technology was replaced, and the cooling demand of the 1.8-litre engine means that rubber and seals must be in good shape to avoid overheating in summer traffic jams.

When the hoses are off anyway, it is easy to replace the clamps at the same time and check the Kuhlmittelrohr's flanges and lower tank for corrosion. Ready-made hose kits with the right bends save time compared to cutting universal hose, and new O-Rings seal the connections without having to tighten by force.
