A jerky needle movement and a squealing noise behind the gauge cluster are most often caused by a dry or frayed speedometer cable – a classic wear point on the 140 that calls for lubrication or replacement rather than an expensive gauge failure. This category brings together instrument parts for the Volvo 140 between 1967 and 1972, the years when the ribbon-band speedometer was fitted before the round gauge cluster took over in 1972.

The group includes the speedometer cable, temperature sensor and brake light switch, bulbs for instrument lighting as well as small details such as clamps, rubber clamp and O-ring. There is also the sought-after 3/16 UNC screw that secures the fittings to the panel. When restoring the instrumentation, it is worth checking the sensors' connections and the routing of the cable at the same time – a clamp or rubber clamp in the wrong place quickly leads to new chafing and disturbed readings.
