Volvo PV/Duett Propeller shaft
Vibration at speed and a dull rumble from the floor often come from a dry or worn centre bearing in the middle of the propeller shaft, or from play in the U-joints. On the 544 and 445, the propeller shaft transfers power from the gearbox back to the hypoid rear axle, and the wear points are the same through the years – bearings, joints and balance.

Which parts fit is determined by engine and gearbox: early 444/445 with B4B/B16 have a different construction than 544/210 with B18 and M40. That's why the propeller shaft is split by model branch so that the centre bearing, U-joints and shaft parts match the correct version.
