Poor cabin heat and damp window interiors are often caused by cracked air intake hoses, hardened gaskets or leaking hose clamps in the heater core. On the 544 with B18 (5-bearing crank, 12V from around 1961/62) the hose and sealing parts are a typical wear point, since the rubber dries out and cracks over the years.
