Rusty flange joints and a heat-cracked seal ring between the manifold and the downpipe are classic wear points on the 760/780 with the B280F V6 (2,849 cc). It often starts as a hissing noise at cold start that disappears once the system has warmed up – a sign that should be checked at the flange joints before condemning the entire pipe.
