Exhaust system Volvo 760/780 (B280F multi link)
Rusty flange joints and a heat-cracked seal ring between the manifold and the downpipe are classic wear points on the 760/780 with the B280F V6 (2,849 cc). It often starts as a hissing noise at cold start that disappears once the system has warmed up – a sign that should be checked at the flange joints before condemning the entire pipe.

This group includes the mounting and sealing parts that belong specifically to the exhaust system: flanges, flange screws, seal rings, lock nuts, hex nuts, washers, wave washers and plugs. During installation, it is the wave washers and lock nuts that maintain tension in the joint as the pipes vibrate and expand – rusted-on nuts can rarely be reused. Always check that the flange's contact surface is flat, otherwise the new seal ring will leak immediately.
