Oil in the coolant, white exhaust smoke or leakage at the cylinder head joint are classic signs of a tired cylinder head gasket on the B230 – the four-cylinder OHC motor of 2,316 cc fitted in the 700 Series with or without turbo. For this type of job, the stud, Topplocksbult, gasket and washers are the natural points to check, and the bolts are often replaced since they stretch when torqued.
