During a rebuild, the oil pan, the seals against the housing and the dipstick tube are typical checkpoints when level and tightness need to be secured. A worn O-ring or a cracked dipstick tube is enough to make the gearbox drip and show the wrong oil level, which in turn affects the shifting feel on the four-cylinder B engines in the 240 series.
