Gear box control linkage Volvo 240 (AW70) (1993)
Play in the gear lever or a starter motor that cranks in the wrong position can point to worn bushings and a tired inhibitor switch in the AW70 automatic's control. On the late 240 cars the selector mechanism sits close to the exhaust system, and the rubber insulators harden over the years – a common reason the feel between P and D becomes vague.
