Cracks in an old flange gasket or loosening nuts between the inlet manifold and the intake side are a classic source of leaking boost pressure and rough idle on the turbo 240. Once the gasket has dried out and the studs have started to rust, it pays to replace the whole gasket set while you're doing the job instead of chasing false air afterwards.

During an overhaul it's worth checking that the flange surfaces are flat, replacing studs that have rusted solid and always fitting a new gasket – otherwise you risk a fresh leak shortly after reassembly.
