Pulse air system Volvo 240 (B21A/B23A/E)
Brittle rubber and cracked hoses are a common inspection point on the Pulsair system, which feeds secondary air into the exhaust port to afterburn and lower emissions on the carbureted B21A and B23A engines in the Volvo 240. A sluggish or leaking Pulsair valve can cause a surging idle and should be checked together with the pipe mounting.
