Rough idle, knocking under load, or an EGR that sticks from carbon deposits are common symptoms on the fuel-injected B200F and B230F engines in the Volvo 240. The recirculation lowers combustion temperature by routing some exhaust gas back to the intake, and tight joints are critical for the system to regulate correctly.
