Crankcase ventilation Volvo 240 B200/230 (-1987)

Oil leaks at gaskets, oil mist in the intake, or an engine that "breathes" heavily can point to a clogged crankcase ventilation. On the B200 and B230 in the 240, cracked oil mist and vaporized blow-by gradually clog the flame shield and hoses, and increased crankcase pressure should be checked before you chase down gaskets.

This category includes hoses, flame shield and flame shield nipple, O-rings, bracket, and screw for the four-cylinder B200/B230 up to the 1987 model version. The flame shield is a common wear point – it cokes up and chokes off the venting – and aged rubber hoses harden and crack at the connections.

Since the design differs between engine variant and model year, it's worth checking the hose routing and connections against your car before ordering the parts, so the flame shield and nipples fit the block and intake.
