Cracked rubber hoses and a sticking non-return valve are typical problems with the air injection, where secondary air is fed into the exhaust for cleaner combustion of unburned residue. When the non-return valve leaks you often hear popping in the exhaust system and the pump can draw hot exhaust gases backwards – a classic checkpoint when rebuilding the B20F system.
