A stiff gas pedal, hanging idle or sloppy play in the linkage are classic symptoms of worn parts in the throttle control on the V6 cars. On the B27 and B28E the linkage sits between the pedal, gaswire and throttle housing, and over the years the ball joints develop play, the return spring loses its tension and the wire starts to bind in its sleeve – all of which makes the throttle response spongy and can cause uneven idle.
