The group includes pistons and piston sets, piston ring sets, rod bearings and main bearing sets, plus a seal, support plate and timing belt gear. During a teardown, the clearance in the main and rod bearings is a typical checkpoint: if standard dimensions do not fit, undersize bearings are fitted after the crankshaft has been ground. Keep in mind too that pistons and rings are chosen by cylinder diameter once the block has been rebored.
Since several families are supplied in sets, it becomes easier to keep the dimensions consistent throughout the entire rebuild, from main bearings to piston rings.
