Volvo 240/260 Master brake cylinder/Brake line

A spongy pedal, a sinking pedal or moisture leaks at the pedal box usually start in the master cylinder or in rusty brake pipes. On the 240/260 the presence of ABS determines which master cylinder and which lines fit, and the servo type differs between Girling and DBA versions. When overhauling the hydraulic circuit, the master cylinder, servo cylinder, vacuum pump (on the V6 cars), non-return valve, brake pipes and fresh brake fluid are typical checkpoints.
