Rear suspension Volvo 1800 (1966-73)

A clunk under acceleration, a wandering rear end or a dull rattle over rough surfaces usually starts in worn bushings and tired rubber cushions in the rear axle mounting. On the 1800 from model year 1966 (chassis #16500) the stronger M30 rear axle is fitted, and its longitudinal torque rods take up both traction and braking forces – when the rubber hardens or cracks, the control of the rear axle becomes sluggish and imprecise.

This category gathers parts to refresh the mounting: bushings and complete bushing kits, torque rods, plus screw, washer and lock nut for correct assembly. A common check point during a rebuild is to replace the rubber cushions at the same time as the bushings – dry, cracked rubber gives off rattle and affects how stably the rear axle sits in a corner.

The selection covers the wear parts that are typically gone through when the rear end goes loose or starts to rattle, so that the mounting geometry is restored.
