Vibrations in the cabin at speed or a dull noise during acceleration can point to a worn centre bearing or play in the flange joint of the propeller shaft. On the Volvo 164 with the inline-six B30, the shaft is two-piece with a centre bearing against the baffle, and the bearing cage and mounting in particular are common inspection points during a rebuild.
